I have always had a love for the arts, in any form - classical opera to postmodern oil paintings. Having dabbled in various genres, the only one where I found outcomes without frustration was photography: while I can spend days focusing on getting a specific image, while I often find myself in dangerous situations, while I spend most of my money on equipment and photographic travels, while sometimes I get home without my magical set of images, I never feel that time behind a shutter button is frustrating. There is no specific style or subject on which I specialise, rather I prefer to hone skills from birds in flight to night scenes as the variety keeps my ideas freshest.
I bought my first camera when I was 12 - a film camera by Pentax, Espio 120. Little did I know that it would bankrupt and corrupt the rest of my free time - but I am so happy I got it. It was just complex enough to entertain me but little did I know how much freedom of expression I would later desire. After digital became a thing, in 2003 I moved to a Pentax Optio something something that worked really well - it was light and gave pleasing images in an instant. Once I started earning a salary I upgraded to a Nikon long range fixed lens camera - this is where it started in earnest: I could get birds in detail, but not if they were flying. In 2011 I moved to DSLR - Canon 60D with a variety of lenses, a flash and a tripod. Oi vey. After 2 years with this lovely starter camera I knew that I was going to do this professionally, and for a long time, and it will use most of my time for long, and the lenses were going to get long - but the images made me happy. I have printed many in personal album books and on my wall. My images have been sold worldwide for various uses including books, newspapers, magazines, websites and campaigns.

Photography is not about the money, it never has been (although sales fund more equipment and adventures) - it is about that next piece of art I can print and hang in my house.
